Helene Svahn

Workshop: From mobility device to health coach

Professor Helene Svahn is Vice President of Research and Innovation at Permobil Group and is heading the Nanobiotechnology division at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Dr. Svahn received her Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology in 2001 and holds a M. Sc. in Molecular Biotechnology from Uppsala University.

In 2002-2005 Dr. Svahn was Marketing Director at Silex Microsystems. In 2003 Dr. Svahn was selected as one of the ‘TR100: Innovators under 35 who will create the future’ at MIT in USA and as ‘Super Talang’ by Veckans Affärer. In 2015 she was selected as one of Sweden’s most influential inspirer. Dr. Svahn also has experience from startup companies through her position as CEO at Picovitro AB.

In 2005-2008 she was appointed professor in Applied BIOMEMS at MESA+ Research Institute in Holland. In 2010-2011 she was the first President of the Young Academy of Sweden. Dr Svahn is a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Dr. Svahn was also Scientific Director at Science for Life Laboratories 2013-2015. She is member of the board of the Swedish Foundation of Strategic Research, Nobel Center Foundation and holds an ERC Consolidator Grant.
